Sooo...holy crap has it been forever since I wrote a journal.
I'm gonna keep this short.
It's pretty obvious I've kinda grown tired of posting here. The process is long and complicated, not to mention annoying on my phone.
THAT BEING SAID.
My friend and I made a joint instagram where we will be posting frequent pictures of all our new cosplays and shenanigans! I'd love to keep in contact with you guys there, so come on over and say hello!!! :3

Okay. This one...little...thing about Miraculous has been seriously driving me crazy- mostly because I feel that there is so much evidence pointing to the fact that this theory IS correct, but there are a few hiccups that throw it off.
So, I'm going to break it down the best that I can. From there, if you have a theory towards or against it, and can successfully debunk the other side, please do comment! Let's try to figure this out!

Points that lead us to believe Gabriel IS Hawkmoth

-In the origins episode, we see a silhouette of what is confirmed to be Hawkmoth, and it looks strikingly like Gabriel in body type, outfit choice, and yes- jaw shape. The silhouette of Hawkmoth doesn't even look like Hawkmoth. Does this eliminate the jaw evidence?
-Hawkmoth has a picture of Adrien's mother, which may be his motivation for gathering the miraculous'. Since Adrien's mother disappeared, this could make sense.
-Gabriel has the miraculous book in his safe, along with the actual peacock miraculous, next to a picture of Adrien's mother and a plane ticket(?). Why would he just have that? It seems too big of a coincidence.
-Hawkmoth and Gabriel both have the same wedding ring.
-In Jackady, before going through with his plan, Hawkmoth announces that "it's risky". Why would it be risky? Perhaps it's worth the risk because he can be around Ladybug and Chat Noir in his civilian form.
-In the same episode, Gabriel is very uncannily interested in Ladybug's earrings. Yes, he's a fashion designer, but...
-He also takes the time to observe Adrien's ring as Chat, and then later during their hug, when he is de-transformed. The look on his face is shocked- maybe even a little alarmed? (If he realizes Chat is his son, and he himself is Hawkmoth, what does he do now?)
-Gabriel is almost never around. Yes, he is a fashion designer, but what if part of the reason is also because he's off being EVILLLL?
-Hawkmoth has a dramatic flair that would easily align with mannerisms a fashion designer would stereotypically exercise- especially when unrestrained by societal regulations and his reputation. Think of how Adrien acts when he's Chat Noir. Less reserved.
-Hawkmoth's lair is apparently a large room with a frankly beautiful window. Something like this could likely only be afforded by someone with a lot of money, and if it is somewhere in the Agreste mansion (possibly even hidden, as we've seen it open and close), Adrien would have no real reason to suspect it.
-Both have the same body structure, as well as the same eye color.
-Hawkmoth and Gabriel have the same voice actor with little variation between the two, besides depth. Shows do occasionally use the same VA's for different people, but the fact that it just so happens to be Gabriel and Hawkmoth seems too "right on" to discount.
-In a post on Twitter, Adrien's Spanish voice actor announced a Happy Father's Day to Papillon, ending the post with "el...es mi padre", or "he is my father." Which is probably the most solid proof the fandom has, I mean, cmon.
-On the French Wikipedia, it said that Hawkmoth's identity was to be revealed in Episode 26. If that's truly the case, then this debate is over.

If I'm missing anything else, please remind me!

Points that lead us to believe Gabriel is NOT Hawkmoth (I have less of these, so please fill me in!)

-Gabriel and Hawkmoth apparently have different jaw shapes. Unless the cowl obscures it somehow to throw us off, this doesn't make sense.
-In Jackady, Gabriel would've had to do a lot of quick changing to keep up. He also almost leapt to his death. However, out of transformation, he may have had no power over the akuma- he did call this a risk.
-Where the heck is his lair? If Gabriel is Hawkmoth, how come Adrien hasn't seen it?
-Gabriel wears glasses. How does he see if he's Hawkmoth?
-This seems almost too obvious.

From what I can gather, I'm leaning towards he is Hawkmoth. What're your thoughts?

Also shout out to my main kittens over at Chat's Boot-ay~

I felt the need to do this xD Music inspires a lot of my characters, and I love all of these songs, so it couldn't hurt to share, right? :3 As I get more characters and find more music, the list will likely grow! Keep in mind some of these have specific situations which obviously can't apply; I go for the feeling and the inspiration. :D

Disclaimer:

By writing this, I by no means claim to be the best, most supportive, most encouraging friend ever. There are definitely times where I should take my own tips (and yes, I really need to quit daydreaming and responding to everything with "huh?", only half-listening sometimes, and being overall extremely passive-aggressive). However, I do always strive to be the most supportive I can be. This is also in no way meant to badger, hurt, or guilt anyone- but to call attention to something. Take it and apply it as you will.

As an artist, I know how it feels to be super excited about a project and feel like no one else, even those closest to you, really cares. Let's face it- we all want validation and a little excitement for ourselves once and awhile, especially from the friends who share our interests! It helps to motivate us and inspire us when we get to talk with people about the things we're passionate about.
Based on personal experiences, encounters with friends, and simply from observing, I've discovered a few things that can either make a person soar or completely drag them down- maybe without you even realizing you're doing it. I believe that by being a little more aware of these things, friendships and feedback will become a lot more worthwhile for both ends. Some of these tips can even be applied outside of the art world. It's really whatever you make of them ^.^

Without further ado...

1) If you have a friend who's an artist, ask about how their projects are going once in awhile and ask to see them when they say something about them! Nothing makes me feel better than when someone asks me how it's going or is eager to see what I've been working on. It shows you're invested in someone's work and are excited to see what they're putting their time and effort- and often, their heart and soul- into :3

2) When someone talks to you about their work, say something that indicates you are legitimately listening. No one word responses! "Cool" "interesting" or "sweet"- especially if this is texting or commenting- are lackadaisical words with no meaning. It makes you seem nonchalant, disinterested, eager to move on to the next subject, and is rarely encouraging- especially without any emotion backing it up.

Example time...

TAAAAKE ONE!

Friend 1: I made a new character today. She uses a staff and has a really cool backstory!

Friend 2: Sounds cool :)

I don't know about you, but reading that, I can practically feel myself deflate.
Instead, respond with a question or a more well thought-out response.

TAAAAKE TWO!

Friend 1: I made a new character today. She uses a staff and has a really cool backstory!

Friend 2: That sounds awesome! :) Can you tell me anything about her backstory?

Alternately-

What kind of staff?
What's her name?
What's she look like?

Wanna be really awesome?

Wow, you're really cranking on those characters, huh? You gotta tell me more about her! :D

See how many places you can take that? Much better, isn't it? You're not only showing interest, but are perpetuating a real conversation-something this generation struggles with.
If you have to use one word- add some enthusiasm! An exclamation point or caps can make all the difference. But if it's all you ever say, then a friend is likely to think you could care less- and that has the potential to hurt them.

3) "Cool. Well, my character blahblahblah..."
Is a friend talking about their project? Are you constantly interjecting with ideas of your own without really acknowledging your thoughts on theirs? It's important to remember to give them some time to talk about their projects, because this is important to them. If it's a healthy relationship, you'll be up next! Distribute your time between both people, so neither of you is left feeling unsatisfied or as if the other doesn't care. Otherwise, people are likely to perceive you as selfish and be less willing to listen to what you have to say, too concentrated on winning the focus back to their own. This goes for more than just art!

4) If a friend makes something available for you to look at or read, do it, acknowledge it, and make a comment about what you thought of it. People get busy; that's a part of life. But if you're reading this, then I guarantee that you have enough free time to spare to support your friends. It doesn't take that long to read a short story or look at a piece of artwork and leave them with a little bit of encouragement. All it takes is shaving 5-15 minutes (often not even) off of Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, dA, etc. Think about it. And if you see them in real life, please- say something to them! A little compliment, something you liked about it, letting them know you care. It'll make their day.

5) Maybe what they do isn't really your thing, or for whatever reason (compromising values and beliefs aside), you honestly don't want to read or look at it. What do you do? Suck it up. If they're a friend of yours, then it's your job to be there and support them in what they do. Stop making excuses.

6) Beware of jealousy! This goes especially for writers and artists who are friends with other writers and artists. If someone gives you something, and you find envy bubbling up inside of you- take a moment and dismiss it. Remind yourself that this is a friend. Otherwise, you are more prone to writing harsher critiques, giving nonchalant responses, and acting selfishly. I've struggled with this before. It's not easy, but it makes you a better person, and you'll be glad in the end :)

At one point or another, I have been guilty of all of these things. Heck. I freely confess that I'm still guilty of some of them, particularly if I'm feeling hurt. But I do try- and so should you. It'll lead to healthier, more worthwhile relationships that have a more solid foundation. You may not always get back what you give, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth doing. You never know what can happen. :)

I got tagged by :iconsorcaron: and thought I'd use Kai Ludger! He's a mostly lighthearted chap and the protagonist of my series, so I figured he would be a fun choice ;)

Rules-
  1. Post 8 facts about your character.
  2. Tag 8 other characters.
  3. Post their names along with their creator's avatars.

Let's see...what random information can I dig up for you?

1) In the world of Novum, Kai is considered a high end traitor and criminal and is commonly known as Icarus.

2) He wears a bottle around his neck. His older brother, Phoenix, got it for him one Holiday. Inside is a picture of their family, and on the back, an encouraging message penned by each family member. Kai has never been able to get the picture out, and so he isn't aware that there were any messages left for him.

3) Kai always wears bright, neon colored attire, preferably mismatched, and loves the color pink. His everyday wear also includes a pair of gloves, which never come off of his hands...( Looks like somebody has got something to hide...)

4) When they were kids, Phoenix and Kai developed a unique and extremely explosive secret handshake. Nix would say "Spark", and Kai, manipulating electricity, would provide one, then following it up with a "Light em up!" Phoenix would direct fire at the spark, and a brilliant explosion would shoot into the sky. The boys eventually learned to control these pyrotechnics sessions and really pissed off their neighbors.

5) Kai has a pride issue. He doesn't like physical affection, because he perceives it all as pity for his condition (he's a special kind of anemic.) However, his socially awkward best friend, Gunnar, doesn't really understand the meaning of personal space, and Kai (being the little toothpick he is) ends up getting squished from behind on a regular basis.

6) If he lived in today's world, his favorite superhero would be Chat Noir of Miraculous Ladybug. The two share eerie similarities. ( Seriously. It's creepy. I made Kai waaaaaay before I watched that show, and unearthed an ancient snippet in which I wrote him crawling in Farrah's window and joking about being a cat superhero. O.o )

7) When he's extremely happy or content, Kai's body will glow- much to his embarrassment. When he's angry or conflicted, you might catch an electrical storm in his eyes- which are a very deep blue.

8) He's the most horrible liar on the face of both planets. His facial expressions are easier to read than baby books, and when he lies, it's so painfully obvious that most people find it funny.

Hope you found those somewhat interesting! :D If anyone wants to know more about Kai or the story of Bluff as a whole, I'd be happy to divulge some info. As for who I tag ( sorry rules I decided you don't apply ):

:iconicyskittles: - Can I ask for Sergio? lol

For the second part of this journal- Toracon 2016 was yesterday! I brought two new people along, and Nick, who dressed as Lie Ren from RWBY, got to be a part of an ask panel his first con! I was so excited for him!
To make things even better, we entered the craftsmanship contest (me as Ruby, him as Ren). Tora doesn't have divisions, so Masters, Novices, and Journeyman all compete together. We placed third! It was awesome and totally unexpected that the prize was $100 to Joanns. I kind of flipped out XD Needless to say, it was a good con. There wasn't as much going on as usual, and it wasn't my favorite event wise, but I still had a good time.

That's all I've got for now. Anything to talk about? Drop me a comment or a note or whatever :)
