Description

So scrublord :icontopazblitz: said I should post this and since I don't hate it...
Have some sad Vin ;-; I haven't ever done work with markers before, so I know there's much to be desired, (and I totally just filled space with the words pft I wasn't gonna put them in at all but then I was like eh and now I don't like it but WHATEVER OKAY) but I really like the smooth look of them. Yknow. Once I learn how to actually like...blend. O.o

About the Picture
Basically, this was inspired by a scene from :icongodsguardianangel2:'s and I ongoing Roleplay. Tanvi, Vin's best friend, had to leave to go get some training so she could learn how to function better and regain some of her dignity as an elf. Vin was pretty heartbroken about it, being the clingy, possessive, adorable little birdkid he is, (I was not about to try coloring a wing OMG) so naturally I had to draw it.

Yknow what, here's the snippet, cause why not?
Written by Emily and I with slight editing. P.S. Emily, I hope this doesn't make you mad ;-;

"Miss Tanvi. I don't mean to rush, but our flight is in the near future," the driver noted.

Tanvi swallowed. "I guess its time to go," she said quietly.

Vin bit down hard on his lip to stop himself from crying, the smallest trickle of blood staining it. "Love you so much," he replied, slowly backing up a step.

"I love you too. So. So much," she countered, fingering the door knob hesitantly. "Just don't do anything stupid."

He hoped he wouldn't, but Vin knew that the chances, without her here, were significantly higher. He was a ship without an anchor, and the storm was getting tumultuous.

"I won't," he murmured faintly.

"Good," she mumbled as she finally got hold of the car door and opened it. Evakir leaned as far as he could and gave Vin a slobbery lick across his face, then jumping into the car. She slipped in after him. "We will be back, Vin. It'll hopefully go relatively quick."

Vin backed up until the concrete of the stairs leading to the front door bit into his ankles, not even bothering to wipe his face. At that point, his hands came back up to his chest, his feathers trembling in the wind. He was all out of words to say. Everything that popped into his head seemed frivolous and threadbare. There was still so much he wanted to tell her, but he didn't know how. He slumped. There had to be some way...

The door closed and Tanvi fingered the feather, Evakir peeking through the window and whining. "Alright. It is time to go," the driver said as he shifted the vehicle into gear and turned the wheel, starting to merge into the sparse traffic.

As it began to pull away, Vin felt a sensation like he hadn't ever really felt before. It was like someone was taking a needle and scissors to his capillaries, snipping them one by one, but leaving the vital veins alone so he could still live on through the anguish. He couldn't lose Tanvi. If he lost Tanvi, he knew then, without a doubt, that she wouldn't be the only thing he lost.

He would lose himself. He would become a shadow. Smaller, blurrier, and more elusive than he'd ever been before.

And it was then that it hit him.

In one of his darkest moments, she'd soothed him to sleep with her voice. He remembered the silly little song that would always play in one of Viria's favorite movies several times a week. Singing had always made him feel incredibly nervous, sending his heartbeat into a jarring and erratic rhythm, and this time was no different. He hoped Tanvi was listening. For him, song was a kind of self-expression he hadn't been allowed to try, a shaky and unexplored territory that could for all he knew end in pain and fear. And yet, he wanted to do it. Here; now. For the first person to love him.

Without realizing it, he must've committed that little song to memory, because now he was letting the notes float softly onto the breeze. They were tentative and shaky. But their meaning meant more than it ever had.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,

You make me happy when skies are gray...

You'll never know, dear, how much I love you, so..."

Redness swelling in his eyes, he choked a little. "S-so, please don't take my sunshine...away."

Tanvis ears quivered as she sighed and openly wept. He sounded so scared and shaky. She wanted to just open the doors and tumble back around. Tears couldn't be held back anymore. They leaked from her eyes as the driver glanced at her in the mirror. "I'll be back. I love you Vin. I'll be back," she started the mantra, whispering to herself. She only paused to find his heartbeat until she couldn't anymore.

Vin fell onto the steps as soon as she was gone. He burrowed his head into his knees, wrapped his wing around himself, and blocked out any other thought in the world.

Right now, nothing else mattered.
